Help Us So We Can Help Our Community

From Annie & Neal

Our hearts are broken by the devastation that Hurricane Helene has brought to our beautiful community. The lack of power and water is horrendous, but we believe we can get through that. The true devastation lies in the flooding and the thousands of trees that have uprooted and fallen on homes and roads, making it impossible for many to leave their houses.

We have nursing home residents who have been living on only applesauce for four days. In response to this urgent need, we have converted our little restaurant into a hub for creating meals for the most vulnerable populations. We prepare the meals, and Bounty and Soul delivers them to those who need them most. This partnership gives us a sense of direction during this chaotic time.

We pray that the sounds of helicopters, generators, sirens, and chainsaws will soon be a thing of the past. Together, we can support our neighbors and restore hope in our community.

Delicious Food in Times of Need

My name is Mary and I live in Swannanoa. I worked at a relief site at an apartment complex for several weeks after Hurricane Helene. During this time, residents of the apartments, community members, neighbors, and volunteers were all doing the best we could to support each other and look after each other and treat each other with love and kindness. Even with all of the beautiful human interactions we were experiencing, it was a pretty bleak time. I remember the first day Bounty & Soul brought us food from Annie’s Culinary Garden. As we ate the food from Annie’s we felt nourished and cared for and we even felt joy. The food was DELICIOUS. We looked forward to lunches from Annie’s in the following days. The food made us feel cared for and even a little pampered in such an incredibly hard time. Many thanks to Annie’s Culinary Garden for being so good to us and for showing up for the community in the days and weeks after the storm.

A Heartwarming Donation from Our Community

Recently, two volunteers from Indiana stopped by Annie’s Culinary Garden and made a generous donation to support our efforts in feeding those impacted by Hurricane Helene. And their kindness didn’t stop there.

They returned later with an envelope, asking Annie to “do good with it.” Annie immediately reached out to Mary, a local coordinator in Swannanoa who is dedicated to helping people living in tents move into stable homes. This donation will go directly toward housing a family of four who had been living in a tent, allowing them to move into a safe home.

We are deeply thankful for the kindness of these volunteers and their support. This gift will help us provide much-needed aid and continue our mission to support the most vulnerable in our community.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support us—your generosity is making a real difference!
